Hi there Welcome to the new improved Familyblog…

Hi there,

Welcome to the new improved Familyblog. There is a new layout that makes it easier for you to post (and might mean the blog doesn’t go quiet while I travel.

First, it’s easier to log in as yourself, which you need to do to post (and will also correctly track your comments). You can log in over there on the right, where you see this:

I sent you your log in ID and password before, but if you don’t have it don’t worry, as it’s as easy to click ‘Lost your password’ and get yourself a new one using Username or email. Your username is your first name in lowercase.

Once you’re in, you’ll see this:

If you just type and ‘Post it’ you’ve created a post. If you want to get fancy, you can have it as a status update (short) or a blog post (long). You can add photos or videos using the ‘Add Media’ option.

Just try it, and everything else you’ll pick up as you go along.

If you want to get an email notification of new posts here at Family blog, you can now do it. It’s as easy as one, two, three.

  1. In the sidebar on the right, under the Tag Cloud, you’ll see a new box labelled Subscribe.
  2. Enter your email, and click the Subscribe button.
  3. Go you your email, and confirm that you want the emails.

Now every time a new email is updated, you will get a notification in your inbox.

Site update

As we are about to move into September, I’ve moved the archives to a more prominent place. It was in the footer, and now it’s on the right in the sidebar. It shows each month and the number of posts there were. It’s another way to go back in time. August 2013 will always be the month we remember Robyn starting school!

Version 1.2

Welcome to Familyblog Version 1.2 now with slideshows

Two changes to the blog. Both to do with how photos are displayed. We can now have slideshows and galleries.

You can check them out. This is a slideshow (O’Connors on tour), and this one from Máirín is a gallery.

Some of the slideshows are very slow to load, but that’s because the earlier photos were really big iPhone photos. I reduce the size now so they’re quicker to load.
